Arsenal Fan Jeremy Corbyn Condemn Billionaire Takeover Of Arsenal, Sends Message To Fans
Labour leader and avid Gunners fan Jeremy Corbyn has condemned American billionaire Stan Kroenke’s takeover of the north London outfit.
His move however has forced mixed reactions from fans and supporters of the club, the strongest backlash coming from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
If Kroenke’s take over bid is approved successful, he would have a full and complete control over the club, taking it private according to the Daily Mail.
In a statement, Corbyn expressed his dissatisfaction over the intended move.
He said: ‘It’s a real shame that this sale will bring to an end the longstanding official role of Arsenal supporters in the running of the club.
‘I back the Arsenal Supporters Trust’s opposition to this takeover which is sadly an all too familiar story in today’s Premier League.’
Another Member of Parliament, Rosena Allin-Khan added, appealing to Kroenke to consider the influence fans have in “the sale of any football club – particularly one of the size and stature of Arsenal Football Club”.
And further pleaded with the Premier League to “thoroughly examine the deal.”
Jeremy Corbyn is also a huge admirer of departed boss Arsene Wenger.
