Good News As Star Confirm He Wants To Play For Arsenal Next Seaso
Petr Cech has laid bare his desire to stay put at Arsenal next season, hinting that they have not started negotiating a new deal with his current contract said to end at the end of the season.
Cech is currently playing second fiddle to Bernd Leno, who joined Arsenal only this summer and the London club are heavily linked with a move to Keylor Navas of Real Madrid. Consequently, there has been rumours that Cech will leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
The ex Czech international arrived Arsenal in the summer 2015 from Chelsea and he instantly displaced David Ospina to a place in the first team of Arsenal. Now 36, his stock may have reduced, but he has showed glimpses of good form with experience.
He has insisted he wants to stay put at Arsenal, meaning, he would sign a new deal if handed one. However, he remains at rest even though talks have not begun over a new deal.
“I would like to stay but we are in January,” Cech told Monday’s Standard Sport. “The season is long so you never know what will happen. I don’t feel stressed or pressed about when we sit and when we talk. I just do my job and in the end, we can easily sit and discuss it, so we will see.
“I haven’t [had an offer yet] and after the transfer window we will talk and see where we are.”
Arsenal now either let players run down their contracts or hand them new deals at the expiration of their currently deal, as typified by Aaron Ramsey. Danny Welbeck is in the same cycle and this practice is bad methinks.
