Manchester United Decides On Anthony Martial Transfer To Spurs
Manchester United have decided against swapping Anthony Martial for Toby Alderweireld, according to report.
Martial has made the headlines for wanting to leave the Fortress of Old Trafford in furtherance of his career and it appears he has decided to do same this summer.
He joined Manchester United in the summer of 2015 as the most expensive teenager in the world and he was instantly a regular for the side under the auspices of Luis Van Gaal.
The 22-year old attacker became a bit-part player when Jose Mourinho took charge of the side in 2016 and it became worse for him when Alexis Sanchez joined from Arsenal in the January transfer window. His lack of game time accounted for why he was left out of the French squad for the World Cup in Russia.
United are yet to sign any attacker this summer but the possibility of Martial playing regularly for United next season remain bleak and his manager Philippe Lamboley, spoke with RMC Sport where he revealed that the player will consider a move away from the Theatre of dreams.
“After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United. There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.
“Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.”
Tottenham Hotspurs and Chelsea are said to be on his case – meanwhile, United are heavily linked with a move for Toby Alderweireld as Mourinho is keen to add a centre-back.
There were rife reports that United will offer Martial in exchange for Alderweireld but according to the Daily Post, United are not interested in the deal.
United are keen on keeping Martial even though the player remains coy over his future.
