Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani A Major Doubt To Face Man Utd Due To Hip Injury
Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is a major doubt to face Manchester United on Tuesday after sustaining an injury.
The French side’s head coach Thomas Tuchel said on Saturday that he was “worried” Cavani could miss the Champions League clash with United, after limping off against Bordeaux.
Cavani scored from the spot just before the half-time whistle of the 1-0 victory, but appeared to injure himself in taking the penalty.
The club have since confirmed he has injured a tendon in his hip with the club awaiting confirmation on the length of his absence, just two days before they travel to Old Trafford.
“Medical examinations have revealed an injured tendon in Edinson Cavani’s right hip. The treatment of this injury and the length of his unavailability will depend on the evolution of the injury over the coming days, ” a statement from the club said.
His absence against United would be a big blow for the French champions, with Brazilian star Neymar already sidelined for both legs of the tie by a foot injury.
PSG could also be without defender Thomas Meunier after he suffered a light concussion at the weekend and is set to undergo further tests.
