Unai Emery Reveals The One Problem Arsene Wenger Created That He’s Still Trying To Fix

Unai Emery’s problem with Arsenal is that his defence does not fit well and that bothers the former Sevilla coach.

Arsenal have leaked 32 goals this campaign and have had an unsteady run this month, despite riding on a 22-game unbeaten streak for the much of the first half of this season.

Arsenal surprisingly veered off course in their chase for a top four finish when Declan Rice’s lone effort at Hammers left Emery’s sides bitterly wounded.

They had looked to cut the gap on fourth place Chelsea, but were surprisingly flogged by Roberto Martínez’s men.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spaniard revealed Arsenal’s transition at the tag-end to Wenger’s era had lost their balance backfield.

He admitted Arsenal were a sharp side on the front, “but with a very, very low level of defensive solidity.”

Emery says he has plans marshalled out and is careful not to disrupt things at the club.

“I don’t want to lose all the good things about this team. There are times when defensively we have not been very solid, but we have still won because offensively we have created a lot of chances.

“So, at the moment, I am still leaning towards making sure the team doesn’t lose what it has. But yes, it’s true that we have to achieve greater defensive solidity.”

Arsenal host Chelsea this weekend and will hope to bounceback from their 1-0 loss to Hammers.
